Insemination

Insemination is the process that involves the placement of sperm into the uterus. The goal of insemination is to increase the number of sperm reaching the fallopian tubes, thus increasing chances of fertilization.

The semen sample is processed and activated in the laboratory and then this sperm is transferred to the uterine cavity with an aid of a special insemination catheter. This process in conjunction with ovulation induction further increases the likelihood of achieving a pregnancy.

Insemination can be selected as a fertility treatment in the following cases:


  • Unexplained infertility. When semen is quite good and trumpets passable
  • In women who do not ovulate and require ovarian stimulation and ovulation induction
  • Anomaly of a cervix, insufficiency of cervical mucus
  • Sexual Dysfunction
  • When fertilization is performed with sperm of a donor

Generally, the treatment of insemination is applied to limited cases because the success rate is quite low compared to IVF.
